Andre Valentim Almeida is a media theorist and filmmaker who enjoy exploring the boundaries of documentary. His last production is an interactive documentary controlled by a gamepad and the one before was a regular feature, “From New York with Love”. He taught media production at the University of Porto and spent several months at the newsroom of the Portuguese news agency as the scientific coordinator of a major video training program.

He has also been involved in different projects, namely the setup of the award winning TVU website and the International Academic Film Festival UFrame. He was part of the yearlong collaborative documentary program at the UnionDocs and is now committed to finish his PhD on Interactive Documentary thanks to the wonders of a scholarship.

As a media maker his work has been screened at MoMA, Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, TEDx Brooklyn among others. Though he’s not thrilled on public appearances he was a TED speaker at TEDx Aveiro. Andre is always thinking about his next feature and never understood why he writes bios on the third person.
